Launch of Jubilee + Website

Jubilee +, one of the official successor organisations to Jubilee 2000, is a programme of the highly respected, radical think-tank, the New Economics Foundation, London. It aims to build on Jubilee 2000's reputation of providing up-to-date, accurate analyses, news and data on international debt and finance; as well as to generate and air new ideas and debates on debt and globalisation. Jubilee + will share news, and facilitate communication between the international north/south Jubilee 2000 movement.

The launch issue of the new Jubilee + website contains an exclusive story about the IMF's threat to Ghana's promised debt relief as well as a debate for and against Ghana entering the HIPC process, with contributions from the Jubilee 2000 co-ordinator in Ghana (arguing against) and from an unnamed source close to the government (arguing for). There is an explosive article on dollarisation in Latin America by Jürgen Schuldt, professor of Economics at the Pacific University in Lima, Peru; a review of Oscar Ugarteche's new book on globalisation; an in-depth analysis of Pakistan's unsustainable debt; and profiles of key people in the world of international finance, from the US Treasury Secretary to Ghana's new president to a Peruvian Jubilee 2000 campaigner.

The new site will provide vital data on debtor nations; the most comprehensive debt and finance glossary on the net; accurate facts; up-to-date news, analysis and information on sovereign debt, finance and economics.

Jubilee + is not just a think-tank. It is a think-and-do tank. So the new website also contains a section devoted to enabling and encouraging readers to campaign and take action.
