TO THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE JUBILEE 2000 INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN UNITED HERE IN LONDON-ENGLAND

Unfortunately I cannot be with you in person to share the successes of this memorable campaign. However I am sending this humble message of thanks and commitment.

I have been a witness of how, across the world, the Jubilee 2000 campaign has awoken and moved the hearts of millions of people. These people have spoken out to demand that this deadly burden called "external debt" is cancelled once and for all, setting free the impoverished people in the world

From the most influential political and religious leaders of this world, to the most humble and most oppressed, we have all sent the same message to the representatives of the rich and powerful countries and organisations:

"External debt is inhuman;

external debt is immoral;

external debt causes exploitation and suffering;

external debt means exclusion and death;

the external debt of the most heavily indebted countries must be cancelled now!!!"

Brothers and sisters, we are committing ourselves to continue to condemn the unfairness of external debt's effects, as well as its main causes: multinationals and monopolies, international financial organisations and corrupt governments.

Do not falter, do not give in. Rest assured that God, the Good Father is on our side.
