U2's Bono told radio listeners that his new single 'BEAUTIFUL DAY' has been inspired by his work with Jubilee 2000.
Speaking to Radio 1 about the single, which is set to feature on the first new U2 album since 1997's 'Pop', vocalist Bono said: "There's a fire in the belly of this music. There's a certain joy that I've picked from working with the Jubilee people, and there's a righteous anger, if you want to call it that, that makes for great rock and roll"
He continued: "There's a sense of something going on, that I think has come from all of this."
Bono from U2 has been a prominent long-term supporter of Jubilee 2000. He has travelled around the world promoting the campaign since publicly announcing his support in January 1999. His work for the campaign has seen him joining thousands in a human chain around the G7 Summit in Cologne in June 1999 as well as making personal visits to discuss debt with President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Tony Blair. In June this year, he sent around an email calling on his fans to email the G7 leaders directly and call on them to take action at Okinawa.
Fans of U2 will be able to view him and the band recording by visiting the U2 website at www.u2.com - which at present is fairly inactive. In a statement posted on the site, the band say: "In the coming weeks, courtesy of the information age, a fly on the wall and U2.com - fans worldwide can watch U2 put the finishing touches on their new album."
Bono adds: "You can download an atmosphere and dial up a groove, but there's a certain magic when three musicians and a dyslexic get together and play in a room."
